Being a design & build firm, we pride ourselves on being able to not only put concept to reality but to essentially create the distinctive Nic & Wes Lifestyle Home concepts in-house. Each concept created encompasses a unique print that differs from the next to flow in with the homeowners’ lifestyle. We at Nic & Wes believe that design should inspire and so for this issue, we have included a new feature for you the readers. Concept Highlights will feature an archival collection of Nic & Wes’s home designs that have tickled the creative senses of our team and which motivates us to continue to do what we love; that is to design lifestyle homes.
What if home design could be impressive even iconic? What if home design didn’t have to be a vortex of the unknown? Well that’s when the barriers of design no longer confine and potentials can be revealed. This issue we drop those boundaries to bring you on a journey of a modern concept bungalow. With a land size of approximately 5425 sq. ft., this bungalow concept home was designed as a 2 ½ storey home with a built-up of approximately 5555 sq. ft. Not just a straight-forward design, this home redefines the concept of traditional Asian homes by polishing it up with the sleek lines of Modernism.
Entering through the main gate, lush greenery and elements of Nature become the focal point. Differing textures of earthly tones set the stage for the rest of the home’s theme. A pond feature coils around the home creating a moat as one journeys across the “drawbridge” in. Not just simply an extravagant feature, this green-oriented home leaves the potential for the moat to convert into a water-harvesting collection facility.
Being connected to its outside surroundings, this Asian Modernist home takes open concept to a whole new level. Nooks and crannies of open spaces fill the home, warmly inviting the elements to illuminate and cool the interiors. Similarly the strong use of glass, balconies and lack of solid walls encourage the inhabitants to be one with nature.
With the lifestyle element in mind, it was important to fuse facilities into the design which essentially creates a conducive environment that will bring the family together. A pool and gym are popular facilities that have been included along with carefully planned communal spaces located throughout the home including a roof terrace. Furthermore with the accommodation of 6+1 rooms within the home, extra rooms can easily be converted into a library, games room, movie room or play room creating more reasons to really enjoy the home space.
From the view of the exterior, the nooks and crannies layout creates a maze of visual surprises. Dimension has become evidently the focal theme throughout the home from its bold detailed use of materials in the exterior to the space planning within the exterior. I hope that you have enjoyed this preview of one of our team’s concept designs and that it has inspired you to reach for something more than just a house but a lifestyle home with unlocked potential.
