PROJECT SHOWCASE: ACROSS THE BORDER By Nicole Kow
2018 has just begun and we are already well on our way with our on-going projects and new enquiries. We have also taken our Nic & Wes stamp across the border with an interior design project of an apartment unit. This issue we take you on a tour of the completely furnished home.
Situated in Johor Bahru, Setia Sky 88 is a luxurious freehold 55-storey service apartment development. We were tasked to design and stage the two-bedroom unit with an approximate 790.93 sq. ft. of built-in space.
Our design team together with our consultant architect worked at creating a minimalist urban chic feel to the space. The empty shell of its prior form consisted of plain white walls and tiled flooring just waiting to be brought to life.
Through conceptualization, our design team began the creative road map which in turn gave our client a clear visualization of the potential of her apartment unit.
Trending on a minimalist urban chic theme, the home was designed with warm tones and wood accents throughout the main spaces to create the right amount of warmth for that homely feel.
As the unit space was lengthy and narrow, the addition of wall mirror panels along the dining space creates the illusion of a more spacious feel. Taking care of even the most minor detailing in furnishing, a singular pop of cool blue beneath the dining table's carpet shifts one’s attention directly onto the space. This is an effective way to highlight an area without confining it with walls or dividers.
Pass the dining area, a cosy living space becomes the perfect spot to unwind. A custom wood laminate wall mounted TV console serves two purposes – functionality as a display console and aesthetically as a feature wall that dresses up the once bland white walls.
The bedrooms too were revamped from paint to décor and furnishings. A grey and white color palette differentiated the Master Bedroom from the warmer tones of the external common spaces while still keeping with the chic urban feel. Concentrating on simplicity, much of its features were translated through its monochromatic choice of furnishings.
A month long ID project, it was a great experience for us especially for our design, project management and carpentary departments to expand our portfolio works into new territories and we hope to be able to continue moving forward to bring our Nic & Wes lifestyle living into more homes.
